First meeting of the Quarter!
January 11, 2018
Thank you to everyone who made it out to our first meeting. We hope you're as excited about the winter quarter as we are! We have a lot of fun, exciting events planned for this quarter, so stay tuned. You're not going to want to miss them!
In addition to our events, we also have multiple research projects for those who wanted to get a taste of what it's like to work in a lab or on research. Feel free to check out the research tab for more details. If you have any questions, feel free to email or Facebook message one of the research coordinators.
We look forward to seeing you all soon!

In case you missed it, Lillie started off the meeting talking about an Environmental Education opportunity for anyone who is interested. Sprout Up is an organization that started at UC Berkeley, and has now spread to multiple campuses across California. Sprout Up focuses on low-income schools, so for UC Davis students, this means going to elementary schools in Yolo County. Here, you will have the opportunity to teach first and second graders environmental science and conservation! No experience needed!
In Sprout Up, you will teach 1 hour each week, and one classroom per quarter. If you signup, you commit to one quarter (8 weeks). Applications will be available around Week 6 every quarter. This will be followed by an informal interview. If you have any questions, feel free to contact Lillie ([email protected]). You could also contact the education liaison, Savannah Woods ([email protected]). For more general information, feel free to check out their website here.

Once again, we would like to give a special thank you to Meg Lowman for giving SEEDS a tour and backstage access of the California Academy of Sciences! We all had an amazing time -- from digging into the archives, to learning about dark matter, to experiencing the rainforest. We can't wait to see what next year's exhibits have to offer!
Thank you to Reed Tran for taking pictures at this event!
