Hiking At Quail Ridge Reserve
February 27, 2016
Thank you to everyone that came hiking with us over the weekend! We all had a blast getting to explore the reserve. Even though many of us had trouble finding the reserve, we all ended up making it in time to get a brief tour of some of the projects being conducted before starting the hike through the reserve. We found lots of exciting taxa under herp traps, including Ring Neck Snakes, Scorpions, and California Newts (but don’t eat them, you’ll die!) Of course we had to stop in Winters on the drive back to Davis for tacos! It was a very fun hike!

Mushroom Hunting at Rockville Park
February 1, 2016
Thank you to everyone that was able to come mushroom hunting with us yesterday! We had an amazing turn out and were able to collect and identify a large range of mushrooms thanks to the help of professors Tom Gordon and Mike Davis! We got to learn all about Northern California mushrooms and the way mushrooms (like the earthstar) have adapted to Californian climates! We even got to see bioluminescent and color changing mushrooms!
