Yolo bypass bat watching
October 26, 2018
We drove out to the Yolo Bypass (only about 10 minutes from campus) and camped out to see the bats emerging at sundown. 20 minutes after the sun made its exit, the bats started pouring out from under the bypass. In case you didn't know, the bypass is home to a lot of bats. About 250,000 Mexican free-tailed bats, to be more specific. It was incredible to witness their nightly emergence, and hang out with other awesome SEEDlingS!
Arboretum Scavenger HUNT
October 13, 2018
We had an amazing day at UC Davis' Arboretum. Our group broke off into two teams, and we each tried to complete as many tasks on the list as possible. This required walking around the arboretum, and paying close attention to the flora and fauna. In the end, the team led by Gautam found the most items, but really, it's a win for both teams, as we were all able to meet new people and explore the outdoors. After the scavenger hunt, we visited the plant sale hosted by the Arboretum. We looked around the diverse assemblage of plants, and some of us found even new photosynthetic friends to take home. More photos can be found on our Facebook page.
