CaleDNA
SEEDS students collaborate with the UC Conservation Genomics Consortium to promote conservation ecology through a citizen science approach. Members go out to local UC Reserves and use CALeDNA sampling kits collect data and gather soil samples. Interns extract DNA from these samples to contribute to a state-wide biodiversity index - while getting non-STEM students interested in genomics and ecosystem conservation.
For more general information, check out the CALeDNA website here.
If you're interested in participating, come on a hike with us (we're always taking soil samples), or email co-president Gautam at ([email protected]) for even more information about how to get involved.
